Essence by Wendy Taylor, 1982

This sculpture is called Essence and was made in 1982. It is made out of bronze. It can be seen in Milton Keynes in the Silbury Boulevard . Wendy Taylor has been creating many different sculptures since the 1960's.

Every time we pass this sculpture on the way into town I remind Daddy that we should photograph it as I think it is a good sculpture to sit in. The last few times we have passed it, the weather was raining so we could not sit in it like I wanted to.

Non-Fiction and Reference 1988

This piece of art was made by two different people called Boyd and Evans and it is in the library.

It has lots of colours and I think that it shows that they like colours. They put a lot of effort into the painting. It took about six months to plan and a year to paint, and it took even longer to dry!

It was a massive painting and I think it was made to look different to other paintings because it is bigger than other paintings that I have seen and it has lots of colour. We enjoyed looking at it.

The Object: Dhruva Mistry, 1995-7

The man that made the sculpture was Indian and he was a designer and a very good one too. His name is Dhruva Mistry. It is made of metal and you can slide down in the middle of the sculpture. It is smooth and slippery.

We chose the sculpture because it looked very very nice and we wanted to take a photo to put it on the internet to show the people. Today is Diwali. Diwali is all about celebrating a light. A man and a woman that were sent out of there city and then returning to it. Everybody lit lanterns and candles. The artist is Indian so we thought it was a good idea.

It took ages to get there because we did not know where to go to find it. We thought it was in the park but it was outside the art gallery. We liked to run up and down the hills in the park and scrunch all the leaves under our feet. The sculpture is behind Milton Keynes Gallery, towards Campbell Park.

Gracie said "I liked it when I slid down" and Olivia said "I thought the sculpture did not look anything like a person"

This is a picture of me (Heidi) holding my candle.

The Whisper 1984

The Whisper
Andre Wallace

This sculpture is of two ladies whispering on a railing outside the library (it was all wet.)

A lot of the other artworks made by the artist Andre Wallace are of unusual things that I don't reconise, but daddy thinks that it is abstract.

Concrete Cows

This is me with the concrete cows. Any blog about Milton Keynes' art would not be complete without a picture of the cows. These cows were created by a lady called Liz Leyh, who came from Canada and worked as an artist in residence in 1978 when Milton Keynes was very young.

I want to be an artist too

This is my sisters.
Daddy helped me write this but I did a lot of the spelling and typing!
